AREA ROUNDUP: Somonauk boys golf shoots past Genoa-Kingston

The Somonauk boys golf squad picked up a 188-210 dual victory over visiting Genoa-Kingston on Thursday at Edgebrook Country Club in Sandwich.

Bobcats junior Jaylen Dion carded a solid 40 to claim medalist honors. Tyler Jansen added a 44, while Andrew Wernsman, Carter Andrews and Brock Zimmerman each scored 52s.

Roanoke-Benson 184, Woodland 213, Henry-Senachwine 222

At Tall Oaks Golf Club in Toluca, the Warriors bested the Mallards, but fell to the Rockets in the triangular.

Glen Ruff topped Woodland with a 50, followed by a 53 from Nolan Bressi, a 54 from Carter Ruff and a 56 from Nick Hoekstra.

Sandwich 201, Plano 209

At Edgebrook, the Indians (1-3, 1-2) earned their first victory overall and in the Interstate Eight Conference after topping the Reapers.

Aidan Sullivan and Ryan Pruski each carded 48s for Sandwich, while Noah Klossing had a 52 and Michael Barbey a 53.

Cavalier Co-op 80, Pontiac 54

At Pontiac, Peyton Heagy won four events – the 200-yard freestyle (2 minutes, :20.02 seconds), 100 freestyle (1:04.35), 50 freestyle (:28.85 seconds) and 100 breaststroke (1:22.90) – as La Salle-Peru/Ottawa/Earlville rolled to its second straight victory.

Nicole Pocivasek took first in the 200 individual medley (2:52.99), 400 freestyle (5:36,88) and 100 backstroke (1:19.70).
