Two-time NBA champion Pau Gasol and Tennis superstar Rafael Nadal have launched a campaign to encourage donations in the hope of raising $12.1 million to help Spain fight the coronavirus, per the Associated Press.
Gasol and Nadal are supporting a Red Cross fundraising effort to help with the coronavirus pandemic:
Mi donación y la de @RafaelNadal ya están en camino. ¿Te unes?
— Pau Gasol (@paugasol) March 26, 2020
The NBA and Tennis are both suspended right now because of the coronavirus.
Gasol didn’t play a single game for the Portland Trail Blazers this season. His foot injury never got better. The six-time NBA All-Star split time last season with the San Antonio Spurs and Milwaukee Bucks.
Pau appeared in just 30 games due to the foot injury with the Spurs and Bucks in 2018-19. He averaged 3.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists while shooting 44.7 percent from the floor, 46.2 percent from beyond the arc and 70.0 percent from the free-throw line.
Gasol has career NBA averages of 17.0 points and 9.2 rebounds with the Memphis Grizzlies, Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls, Spurs and Bucks. He won two titles with Kobe Bryant on the Lakers and will surely be inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame one day.
